STORY

The artist will design a unique glass grave monument tailored to honour your loved ones, drawing inspiration from the story and information you provide. Please take a moment to answer the following questions to ensure we capture your vision accurately. Your responses will guide us in creating a design that truly reflects the essence and significance of your loved one's life.

The narrative

Crafting a meaningful memorial begins with reflecting on the life of the person it honours. Consider the narrative you wish to convey through the memorial—perhaps highlighting the boldest features of their life, their profound impact on you and others, or the passions and loves that defined them. Each element of the grave monument serves as a testament to their unique story and enduring legacy.

The aesthetic preferences

When considering the visual aesthetics, we encourage you to explore the grave monuments showcased on our website and Instagram. Below are several aspects to consider:
  • The form of the headstone: Do you prefer a constructive or plastic design, sculptural or classical elements, and specific shapes – such as rectangular, rounded, cross-shaped, wavelike, or characters – hearts, butterflies, angels?
  • Composition: Your preference for using glass alone or in combination with boulder or granite elements.
  • Monument Size: Specify the desired dimensions of the monument.
  • Glass Stacking Technique: Choose between horizontal, vertical or diagonal stacking methods.
  • Type of Glass: Select from options such as Clear glass, Dark Selective glass, Light Selective glass, or Crystal Clear glass, considering their unique characteristics and associated cost increments.
  • Budget Allocation: Provide an approximate budget for the grave monument project. Keep in mind that the handmade nature of our glass headstones means that the primary cost factor is the labour hours involved in crafting the piece. The shape and technical complexity of the glass headstone have the most significant impact on pricing, with size being a secondary consideration.
  • Site Details: Share photographs and dimensions of the burial site, including the height and width of nearby objects – neighbouring tombstones. This information helps the artist create a proportional solution and generate an accurate 3D model for the design.

NB: It's advisable to check with your cemetery regarding any special rules or requirements for headstones. Some cemeteries may have regulations regarding size, materials, or safety standards, which we can accommodate in the design process.

When purchasing a custom-designed grave monument, we provide payment options divided into two instalments, aligned with the development stages of the headstone

  • The first instalment, comprising 50% of the total sum, is due upon approval of the glass headstone design before the commencement of its production. This initial stage of creating a glass grave monument involves preparing technical drawings for each layered glass element, cutting the glass pieces, and performing primary edge treatments such as grinding and cracking.
  • The second instalment, comprising the other half of the total cost, is due after approving the progress made on the glass headstone. Prior to this, we will provide you with pictures or videos showcasing the cut-out monument's status. Upon receipt of the second payment, we proceed to the second stage of the bespoke grave monument creation. This involves glueing, cleaning, and final edge treatments as necessary. Additionally, tasks such as ordering the stainless steel frame, incorporating the gravestone into it, inserting metal rods into the headstone, producing metallic letters (which can also occur in the first stage), engraving on the glass, preparing instructions, packaging, and organizing shipment are undertaken.

PAYMENT FOR ADVANCE ORDER OF A CUSTOM GLASS HEADSTONE FOR PRODUCTION DURING THE WINTER PERIOD

With the surge in headstone orders during the spring and summer months, we advise planning your glass grave monument purchase well in advance. We begin accepting orders for the upcoming spring season a year ahead, allowing ample time for the glass grave monument creation process. By placing your order during the winter period, your glass headstone can be crafted and prepared for installation in March or April, ensuring timely completion and installation.

  • When securing a bespoke glass monument in advance for the subsequent spring/summer season, we require a 10% deposit instalment to confirm the design and order. This deposit ensures inclusion in our ongoing work schedule for the winter period.
  • The subsequent 40% instalment will be due before the commencement of work on the grave monument in autumn, with the final 50% payment required prior to the second stage of production in winter.
  • The completed glass headstone will be prepared for shipment in March/April, allowing for installation as soon as weather conditions permit. Please note that for installation, the outside temperature must be at least +5 degrees Celsius for a minimum of 24 hours.
